Spermogram

WHAT IS A SEMEN ANALYSIS?

It is an examination of the study of male fertility. Making sperm in the testicles and ejaculation depend on several factors such as: the days of sexual abstinence, taking certain medications, exposure to potential environmental toxicants, fever, among others. In it, we analyze the semen to evaluate the physical aspects of the semen, such as volume, pH, viscosity, color; in addition, we study the number of sperm, their motility, morphology and vitality. It also offers valuable information on the presence of other cells such as macrophages, lymphocytes, leukocytes, bacteria, and fungi, which, depending on their number can be the cause of the infertility.

Step 3

The semen analysis provides a broader overview of the reproductive capacity of the male. It is a test of a low cost that allows you to perform a first diagnostic impression and assess the achievements of the medical and surgical treatments (vasectomy – reversal) that are carried out during assisted reproduction treatment.

Step 4

The interpretation should always be made by medical personnel, ideally specializing in the area of reproduction, as based on the results obtained and their correlation with the medical history of the couple, the decisions to determine the most suitable treatment.

Step 5

It is important that the procedure of the semen analysis is performed in conditions that represent the actual state of health and the basal activity of the individual. To minimize variables in the decision of the semen analysis should follow the recommendations set forth by the WHO as some medications, foods or situations of stress generated dramatic changes in your results.
An abnormal result in the spermogram, does not necessarily indicate a health problem, and should be confirmed by performing a second semen analysis, within 60 days after the first result.
